TOKYO — This early Thursday due to the severe collision of a marine refueling aircraft and a fighter jet, a crash was encountered in the Pacific Ocean of Japan’s southwestern coast. Two crew members were found by the rescuers as said by officials. The authorities reported one was in stable condition and the rescue and search operations were continuing for rest five members.
According to the U.S. Marine Corps, the incident took place at 2 am and it involved a KC-130 refueling plane and an F/A-18 fighter jet. The crash occurred 200 miles off the coast, during refueling training, when the two aircraft took off from their base in Iwakuni, located near Hiroshima present in western Japan. It happened, about 60 miles out closer to land, where the two crew members were found.
The officials said F/A-18 was carrying 2 pilots, whereas five crew members were on-boarded in the KC-130, whereas the actual cause of the crash was under investigation.
The Maritime Self-Defense Force confirmed that one of the crew members of the fighter jet found was in stable condition and was taken to a hospital in Iwakuni. He didn’t provide any further details like any information about the condition of the other crew member.
