Massachusetts – A 43 years old high school teacher is gaining popularity rapidly due to his self-made list of slang words. He named it “Gen Z” and it is getting viral with the same name.
James Callahan, who is 43 years old, is teaching in Lowell High School, Massachusetts. He has been teaching there for 15 years. Side by side, he taught American-African children as well. Callahan listened many words from his students which he did not understand ever. He made a list of such words and gave the words his own meaning.
Callahan started arranging the words to make African-American Vernacular phrases and one day he shared this exciting list with his students, as reported by Buzz feed news.
One of the students took a photo of the list and uploaded it on social media. The photo went viral within two and three days with 169,000 retweets.
The student posted a line with the photo,” My sociology professor learns slang words from the students and arranges them in an alphabetic way to give them new meanings”.
Callahan told Buzz Feed News – “For example, when I think of ‘snack,’ I think Cheez-Its. It wasn’t until a month ago that I learned that an attractive person is a ‘snack.’ I’m laughing again just thinking about my students explaining it to me.”
Callahan has also shared a PDF version of his list to make it available publicly.
