Raised in a household that valued hard work, Roger Alexander grew up knowing to properly excel in life he must strive for greatness. Today, Alexander is the owner of “AlphaMale Visuals,” a video production company that services some of the most popular celebrities in the world. People often inquire about Alexander’s title
selection for his company, and it pleases him to provide an honest response.
Alexander’s parents would always emphasize the importance of giving 110% of his energy to whatever it is that he decided to do. If he were to grow up to someday become a garbage collector, then he had better be the best garbage collector in Texas, his home state. Alexander was always competitive, both in the classroom and in sports.
He was the guy staying after practice to get extra reps, going the extra mile, doing everything he could to win a competitive edge, no matter whether he was successful at it or not. In the classroom, he put in overtime just so he could have the highest grades and beat out his classmates. Alexander was taught to always strive for number 1, the Alpha, in whatever he chooses to do. Incorporating Alpha into his company’s name, it turned into “Alpha Male,” which Alexander would likely describe as someone who successfully provides his best efforts as a means to excel in whatever field they occupy.
Alexander then brought this mindset to his business practices and other facets of his life outside of school and sports. He stated that he longed to attend an HBCU (Historically Black College or University), but a small school in Missouri offered him an athletic and an academic scholarship to attend. Alexander did not enjoy attending this school until he pledged Alpha Phi Alpha. He explains that the Alpha experience helped mold him into the man he is today, and it will forever represent a huge part of his life.
Alexander figured that it would be wise to push his affiliation to the forefront of his brand for marketing purposes. He hoped that other individuals who had pledged Greek organizations would support his business to gain early traction, and they ultimately did. Some of his first clients were members of other historically black fraternities and sororities.
Alexander was a marketing major in school. He learned that gimmicks can be very helpful to sell a brand. The title “AlphaMale Visuals” tends to get a reaction out of people. Some people get offended by the name while others are intrigued by it. Regardless, the title itself is a conversation starter, and it encourages people to ask
about its name. Once, Alexander explains the meaning behind it, his work of engraining his brand in their mind is complete. The name cleverly encourages people to keep talking about his company.
