Pakistan Super League’s fifth edition is about to start in February 2020. PSL players drafting was completed in mid-December. The franchises have selected many overseas players this time.
There are 28 players in the platinum category. South African pacer Dale Steyn and England batsman Jason Roy have managed to make their place in the platinum category. Cricket players of eight nations have registered their names for PSL 2020. The fifth edition of PSL is going to be held in the four venues in Pakistan. The opening ceremony of the PSL 2020 is expected to be held in Karachi on 20 February.
Seven players from England have taken part in PSL 2020 including Moeen Ali and Jason Roy. There are also six players from South Africa, and three each from Afghanistan and Australia. This time five big players from West Indies also took part in the PSL 2020.
PSL franchises can retain a maximum of eight players from the previous tournament’s teams. All the players in the tournament are divided into five categories such as platinum, diamond, gold, silver and emerging players. The franchise can select three players from the platinum category, two from the diamond and gold category, five from silver and two from the emerging players category.
There are many other players in the platinum category including Chris Lynn, Moen Ali, Alex Hales, Colin Ingram, Rilee Rossouw, and Colin Munro. HBL PSL 2020 is expected to become very popular because many popular overseas players are going to take part for the first time in the PSL.
