The biggest laptop manufacturer in the world, Dell, has recalled the Dell Hybrid Power Adapters that were sold with a power bank. This adapter allows users to power their laptop computer at or away from the power outlet. The problem with the Dell Hybrid Power Adapter is that it is leaving electronic circuitry exposed, that can give shock to the users. Dell makes all types of laptop and desktop computers and the Dell Power Bank with the Dell Hybrid Power Adapter was an interesting accessory for these systems.
Dell has announced that the products which are recalled were manufactured between January 2017 and March 2017. The hybrid adapter is in a darker color than the power bank, and it has a Dell logo on the backside. On that side, there is a code “CN-05G53P – LOC00 – XXX – XXXX – AXX” where “X” denotes a numerical value. Users can know whether their adapter is matching the code or not. Dell has recalled a total of 8,900 units in the US and 475 units in Canada. It has also launched a website where users can look for the recalled units.
Dell has said that consumers should stop using the power adapter and return them for a free replacement with laptop AC adapter. It has also stated that no injuries have been reported so far but it is necessary to replace the units for a safety measure. Users can sell their power adapter at the Dell stores at prices ranging from $125 to $200.
