A late-night sound like a blast, right? You have a great time with your friends, meet a new guy, and make some great stories to share later. Then comes the dreaded hangover. Maybe you indulged in one too many pink margaritas. You wake up with a pounding headache and feel like you could drink an entire ocean’s worth of water, yet still be thirsty. If you’re lucky you can spend all day in bed, but if you must brave the day, pop some aspirin and follow our tips to refresh your skin. No one will be wiser about last night’s antics, that is ‘til they see the Facebook pics.
1. Cleanse with a Creamy Cleanser
The first step of forgetting last night’s antics is to wash off last night’s makeup looks. Use a creamy cleanser to erase all traces of makeup and dirt from your skin without stripping it of your natural oils. Since your skin is already dehydrated, you’ll want to skip using a harsh cleanser.
2. Exfoliate
As mentioned earlier, your skin is going to feel like the Sahara. Before you moisturize, you’ll want to exfoliate away the dry, flaky skin. Exfoliation is the key to prep your skin to soak up all goodness from the products you’ll be applying afterwards.
3. Spot-Treat
My skin will instantly reveal the damage I did the night before by breaking out for a few days after. To prevent or at least minimize the effect, I will spot-treat any major blemishes I notice.
4. Moisturize
Today is the day to bust out that deep moisturizer. Don’t worry about it feeling heavy because your skin is going to soak it up instantly. Moisturizer is going to be the best pick-me-up for your face.
5. Revive Your Eyes
Grab a refreshing eye-roller to perk up your eyes, especially if you only got 5 hours of sleep last night. You’ll appear bright-eyed and cheery, even if you wish you were still in bed.
6. Nourish Your Lips
In addition to moisturizing your face, you’ll want to spend some time on your mouth, too. They might be a little dry after making out with the hottie from last night. Use a nourishing lip balm with a slight tint. The hint of color will breathe some life back into your face.
7. Conceal
Don’t worry about applying an entire face of foundation. You want your skin to be able to breathe, so just apply some concealer to the necessary spots, like that blemish appearing on your chin.
8. Bronze + Brighten
Finally, swipe a light bronzer on your skin. A late night usually leaves my face pretty drained in the morning, so I need all the color I can get. With a large brush, apply the bronzer to the places the sun naturally hits. Then use a blush to brighten up your cheeks. Now you’ve really made progress!
If all else fails, just slip on some shades 😉
