The Japanese car manufacturer company Toyota is ready with their sales report. As per the report in July 2019, Toyota managed to sell a total number of 10,423 units. The month was very rough as there was de growth in sales by 24 per during the month. The company ended up being on the 5th position and was ahead of Honda, Ford, Renault and Volkswagen.
When compared with last year in July 2018, only 3,254 units were sold by Toyota. In 2018 they ended up behind Mahindra and Tata. The gap to Tata was very narrow. There was only a difference of 62 units between the two companies.
0.4 per cent market share was gained by Toyota in July 2019 with 5.2 per cent being the overall share.
Innova Crysta was the most sold model within the domestic lineup, and anyone searching for ‘Toyota near me‘ mostly went home with the Innova Crysta. Though they could not sell more than 6,000 units, but it could be because the overall market slump has taken a toll. Only 4,865 units were sold of the premium MPV this year as against 6,638 units in July 2018. The sales were declined by 27 per cent.
It seems fate was not in favor for their model ‘The Fortuner’ as well. The SUV endured a massive 36 per cent sales slump. Only 1,187 units were sold this year as against 1,856 units last year.
The sale of Yaris on the other hand was seen decreasing day by day. Only 51 units of the sedan were sold in July 2019 as against 1,400 units in the corresponding month last year. A 96 per cent volume de-growth was experienced. It was reported in AutoPunditz that – “The C-segment for sedans in general is facing big sales drops and the Yaris is taking a beating.
Nearly 1,804 units of Glanza were sold last month. Moreover models like Etios, Liva and Cross had combined to register only 2,386 units with a sales decline of more than 30 per cent.
The next-generation Corolla is likely to go on sale some time next year in India. The existing model has encountered a big volume drop after Honda Civic was launched.
The key for future prospects of Toyota is the partnership with Suzuki as OEM supply of vehicles and technology sharing are part of the equation.
