Spending an afternoon beside a lake is not much enjoyable than enjoying lake time in a new boat. 2019 is looking very trendy in terms of boating aspects. People are changing their taste of boating with new types of boats. Marina managers are the best to catch the current trends of boating. Several marina managers around Lake Hartwell shared what trends and what kind of boats are popular this year. All of them noted that pontoons boats with three pontoons are liked more by the people as compared to traditional two pontoons.
Brant Tew, the owner of Hartwell Marina, said that boat engines have become more powerful in recent years. Two-stroke engines are replaced by the new four-stroke engines for the outboard environment. The traditional two-stroke engine ran like a chainsaw and creates a lot of noise and smoke. The new one is very silent and fuel-efficient. Tew shared that a lot of boaters on lake Hartwell were using old pontoons but now they are using bigger engines with 250 or 300 horsepower. In the old days, people owned a pontoon and ski boat as an alternative. But now they are owning only one real big engine.
Nathan Rhodes, who owns N&C Marine in Martin on Lake Hartwell, said, “Pontoons have been hot for about eight years, and they’re continuing to grow. Because of the performance packages they’re putting on them, they’re getting quicker, better handling. They’re growing in popularity every year. We’re seeing that same trend this year.”
Pontoons boats are getting popularity among boaters due to their power, insurance, and reliability. They are easy to maneuver and contain enough space that a group of boaters can enjoy the ride at the same time without any inconvenience.
