James has revealed that when he was in the youth academy at Hull, he almost stopped playing football for spending more time with his friends. James told Inside United Magazine that when he was nearly 12 years old, he gave up football because he was not enjoying it.
His reason behind giving up football was very realistic. He told his parents that at that time, he was missing his friends because he has to spend his whole time in training. In his school days, he wanted to go out with his mates but training never let him do so. Though he was thinking to quit football, he never missed bet of the day in popular league matches.
