The strict Republican lawmakers of US Congress panel had Sundar Pichai, an Indian-American CEO of Google Inc., grilling on their questionnaire. There was a 200-minute meeting conducted between the panel and the CEO. The meeting was called up to seek justifications on the suspected claim over the high-end technology used by the company especially in social media and internet search sphere.
Donald Trump accused Google and other search engine companies that deliberately show up content to spread a negative word against him. The committee in the meeting has crossed questioned Pichai about its data collection, method and application, and privacy blunders. The political and ideological tendency of the company’s employee was also questioned. The company was alleged by King and Matt Gaetz to have joined the march along the conservatives during 2016 polls to campaign for liberal and minority votes.
Although the grilling session mostly did not target the origin of the personage, some examples as threats from South and Southeast Asia were referred to during the discussion. The main concern was that of the company’s measure towards political activity.
SundarPichai has assured the committee that Google will continue to serve as a neutral face in a politically challenging situation.
