The ‘divine feminine’. Some of us might’ve heard of this term frequently being used before. But what is it, really? Why do people keep talking about it?
And what role does it play in entrepreneurship?
It should first be established that the divine feminine doesn’t exclusively refer to gender and women. Instead, it refers to the inherent feminine energy that is balanced with the masculine. Regardless of gender, every person possesses both feminine and masculine energy. For as long as history remembers, these dual energies have been a significant aspect of spirituality and astrology.
The divine feminine, in particular, promotes a more emotion-centered connection to our soul and spirituality. It’s strongly connected to our life’s purpose and love as a whole.
Author Gabriela Herstik defined the divine feminine as “a face of the divine spirit that is connected with the body, with nature, and with the cycles of creation and transformation”. On the other hand, healer and artist Edgar Fabián Frías said that the divine feminine energy primary revolves around “uplifting that which has been denigrated in our society”.
The Divine Feminine in Female Entrepreneurship
It’s not unusual to hear that women have been put out of the conversation for so long. Men typically dominate many aspects of life: the law, gender roles, societal norms, and so on. And the business world isn’t exempt from masculine domination.
In the case of female entrepreneurs, this issue becomes all the more obvious.
Take, for example, Robin Rivera, spiritual healer and CEO of Robin Rivera Global. She is a single mother and holds three college degrees from prestigious schools. However, the highest paying job she could get paid $28 per hour.
“That’s a problem with society misvaluing the feminine leadership,” Rivera claimed.
Often, we hear of the term ‘girl boss’ being used for women who excel in their careers. The media has depicted time and time again the image of a ‘tough’ woman in the workplace. And while there’s nothing wrong with being firm and assertive — in fact, these are good leadership qualities to possess — women are conditioned to think that being solely masculine is the only way to succeed in their careers.
This is not the case.
The divine feminine plays a pivotal role in entrepreneurship. Women should be allowed to tap into their divine feminine, to imbue their work with vulnerability and spirituality.
Ignoring the divine feminine and focusing solely on the masculine energy can lead to burnout. It can also leave entrepreneurs feeling unfulfilled. To neglect one’s feelings is to neglect the ultimate ‘why’ or the primary purpose behind a person’s business. And without that compass, the ship gets lost.
Aligning One’s Business With the Divine Feminine
Robin Rivera traveled a rocky road in life, having grown up in an abusive environment. She lived her life focusing on how to survive. When she matured into adulthood, she dabbled in the escort business and later on, narrowly missed being ensnared by human traffickers in this line of work.
Rivera became pregnant at the age of 23. That was the moment she realized she wanted to be a good mother, one who was able to provide her child with a good life. She relied on her feminine energy and spirituality to motivate her to escape the rut she was in.
“There was no reason for me to think that this was going to be okay,” she said. “But for some reason, this incredible, divine peace washed over me. I just knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that I was meant to do this.”
Today, Rivera specializes in training spiritual healers and coaches to reach their own pool of clients. And she does so by emphasizing feminine qualities: vulnerability and intuition.
She is one of the many women who have had to make their own mark in the entrepreneurial world. In a male-dominated business world that prioritizes the masculine over the feminine in businesses, there exists the danger of the divine feminine being sidelined.
The Divine Feminine, Unfettered
The ideal way of approaching energetic spirituality in our businesses would be to harmonize both the masculine and the feminine. Balance is key.
Tapping into one’s masculine energy when handling a business is frequently encouraged. Leadership tips often involve advice that runs along the lines of being “firm” and “assertive”.
But female entrepreneurs often face a certain fear when it comes to tapping into their divine feminine. When do we ever hear an expert say, “be more emotional when running your business”?
What many don’t understand is that allowing oneself to connect to their emotions, their heart and soul, will unlock greater opportunities. Tapping into the divine feminine allows female entrepreneurs to better direct the course of their business according to their intuition. This doesn’t mean rationality flies out the window; it just means that their business ventures won’t be missing a soul.
“Now, I go all out,” Robin Rivera said in an interview on this matter. “I hold nothing back. I embrace all of who I am and share it with the world in a big way. I own my power, I understand the sacredness of my work, my channel, and my gifts.”
So maybe it’s time for those of us who are spiritual to embrace the divine feminine. Why not channel feminine energy into our business ventures? The results are more likely to be satisfactory than not.
