Buc Noi is amongst the new generation of urban artists from the Mid-Atlantic area of the United States. Sam Sengphachanh, better known as Buc Noi, was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on the West side of Glendale. He now resides in Washington, DC’s DMW region.
He is a self-taught artist who began his career in the music business at a young age. Noi can be called a true example of journey from Rags to Riches. Buc Noi made his debut in the music scene in 2019, with his hit single, “F*ck Friends“. While he began songwriting as a youngster, it was not until he had gone through a particularly terrible period in his life that he pursued music professionally.
Talking about the difficult part of his life, Buc Noi shared that he was born into a very low-income household, as his parents fled Laos as refugees following the conflict. His folks had two of the lowest-paying professions, and he and his brother were frequently abandoned on the streets. The neighborhood in which they grew up was a gang infested area, and he had to face facility lock ups several times in his life. At the age of 15, he witnessed the murder of his father, and a year later, he was tried as an adult, facing 10 years of jail time.
But that was the end of his fall. From there rose the music artist the world knows today. His music is now reaching several people who can relate to his story. Buc Noi has also performed in several events like the Asian All Star Hip Hop Weekend in Washington, DC.
