There are several higher-performance trims planned for the model – Supra says Tetsuya Tada, the chief behind the Toyota sports car’s revival. The work of Toyota Supra is still in progress and has yet not reached its final form. The Supra is devised as a serious sports car and the company will do everything they can to make it as best as it can be added Tada.
In his interview with Autoblog, Tada explained about the overall development of Toyota Supra and what steps would be taken by the company to make it a formidable force in the sports car world. Tada further assured that “Their performance will enhance with each additional version of the sports car. The customers can expect to see a new additional version almost every year.”
It seems during the initial stages of the project Mr. Herbert Diess – Ex CEO of BMW and now the head of Volkswagen was very keen to create an i8 successor but Tada was very firm to have a real sports car. Talks were resumed with BMW and they expressed their desire to build a lazy and comfortable cruiser out of the Z4. Tada urged the Germans to push the joint effort into serious sports car territory.
When compared with i8 and Z4, BMW even with 382 horsepower at the disposal of the right foot, turns out to be the laziest driving vehicle of the two. Supra has 335 horsepower and it won’t be the end of the road says Tada.
Well there is a hell lot of demand for a manual transmission option. Tada addressed this issue saying “Customers looking for a manual should choose the Toyota 86.”
