Likes, comments, shares and followers are everything in social media platforms. Among them is Instagram where one posts photos and videos as well as daily life stories. Stories can’t be liked and only responded to through messages. The posts containing images/ videos/ selfies can be liked and commented on.
Many people use various filters available on Instagram to better their photographs and make them more attractive gaining more likes and comments. Some also take services of Buzzoid like explained here, to gain the Instagram users naturally. But a new research has pointed out that the use of filters on selfies actually reduce the number of likes a post/image gets.
Here, by filters, the research means the selfies taken using face filters. People love the enhancing of colors but do not approve of changing face color and structure using the face app. Filters like the ones which add ears, animal parts or eye gears aren’t much appreciated. People like the selfies where the personal poses naturally with their own face and no added or unique filter.
Research report states that people consider these addition of unique filters as an ingenuine behavior. “While selfie takers may regard photo filters to be increasing the visual attractiveness of themselves, this can be perceived by other users as an ingenuine behavior because it reflects the intent to only present the ideal depiction of self,” states the report.
People respond better to selfies that are taken in natural light with the original features. It should also be taken into note that though the filters are unique by itself but once they are added on a face, it no longer possesses the same uniqueness. For example, 5 pictures using the bunny ear would look the same but 5 pictures without the bunny filter will be different and original and more appreciated.
